Thank you for tweeting this post. I appreciate the prod in terms of reading, one of my passions.

You know as a child I was always taught girls are seen and not heard, and as a result married men who required me to keep my intelligence under wraps. To this day, I still observe this internal behavior.

The truth is, while my father taught me to dumb down, he instilled in me a love of books. There's no substitute for good reading. Education can't give you that, it can only show you where the library is.

Notwithstanding, I take great pleasure knowing all those years of reading, when my children were without TV, also instilled in them a love of reading. A passion now shared by my grand daughter.

Wonderful recommendations --- I've read most of the De Bono books, but I will seek out Mozart's Brain Fighter Pilot.

Thanks, Tim. I really value your feedback and encouragement. It's been a fascinating few months as I make the transition from many years offline to venturing online. It's an amazing journey, the highlight of which is the fantastic connections we make. I look forward very much to participating in your online community, Tim.

Best to you with all your pursuits in 2010 and beyond.

Robin, this post lead to some ideas that are going to change my direction for the next year profoundly. I'm pretty hard to impress sometimes but I found this post to be immensely beneficial.

I also like the overall brand and style of your site. The URL is much catchier than the one before. I think you may have yourself a real winner. Congrats.

Thanks, Jimmy. Have you read any Raymond Carver novels? I always find them an entertaining, creative jolt. Love your art work. Keep it up!

Best to you, Robin :)

Thanks, Marilyn. Wonderful feedback - especially your comment about involving your kids. That must be quite a sight.

Great comment, Annabel. You raise a critical point about the assessment of ideas - one that I will be posting on soon. Thanks for your feedback and encouragement.

Best, Robin :)

Hi Robin,
Thanks for another great article. I seem constantly stuck for ideas for paintings, and an experienced artist told me to read more novels! Not necessarily good novels eithers. Ideas cross-fertilise as you pointed out, nothing is lost to the mind.
Thanks again, Jimmy
